    BLESSED SIMON FIDATI


    An important work in the history of the Italian literature is his “ the order of the christian life” written in Florence in 1333. It is mentioned as one of the sources of our language , it ‘s alsothe first catechism for adults written in italy.
    Simon died of the Plague in Rome on February 2nd 1348. Since 1361 his mortal remains, even though difficult events have always rested in Cascia, first in S. Augustine’s chuch, then in the little s. Rita’s chiurch and in S. Mary’s Collegiate church. Since 1954 they are rested in the inferior Basilica, on the right transept where there is also the Eucharistic Miracle, one of the most important events of his sacred life.
    The rendered veneration of the Blessed Simon dates back to 1833 with Pope Gregory’s XVII’s approval. His name-day is celebrated on February 16th.
